You can attend our Phoenix Rising Workshop students with academic standings other than GOOD. Students with academic standing of provisional suspension or suspension or provisional exclusion or exclusion are particularly encouraged to attend. This workshop will cover how to identify what factors impacted on your studies and will also cover making an appeal against the suspension or exclusion ruling. Registration is essential for the workshop. The workshop is also available as an on-line workshop.
What should you do if your academic standing is other than GOOD?
Following Session 1 academic standing notification:
1) Attend the Phoenix Rising workshop to work out what changes you will need to make to how you approach your academic efforts;
2) Join the Back on Track Program (url: http://www.backontrack.unsw.edu.au/) and do all that you can to improve your results for next session. If your standing improves at the end of sesion2 you may find that your academic standing is no longer on Suspension or Exclusion.
Following Session 2 academic standing notifications: please write a draft of your appeal letter before making an appointment at the Counselling Service or coming to the Phoenix Rising workshop. Bring your letter draft and any supporting documentation along with you when you see a counsellor or attend the workshop. Information on how to write an appeal letter can be found at the Academic Advising section of the A-Z student guide (url: https://my.unsw.edu.au/student/academiclife/assessment/AcademicAdvising.html)
Please note that appeals against suspension and exclusion must be submitted by specific dates. Refer to your letter or email from Student Administration for the due dates.
What should you do if you are on an academic standing level of REFERRAL or PROBATION or PROVISIONAL SUSPENSION or PROVISIONAL EXCLUSION or SUSPENSION or EXCLUSION?
You can attend our Phoenix Rising Workshops. This workshop will help you to identify what factors affected your studies in the first instance and help you to plan how to approach the next session successfully. These workshops are offered prior to both S1 and S2.
Prior to S1 each year there are specific Phoenix Rising Workshops for students who have an academic standing level of Suspended or Excluded.
You can join the Back on Track program to help you more successfully manage the factors that affected your studies and to identify strategies to address these issues so that you can get your academic progress back on track.
You can also meet with a Back on Track counsellor.
If you are on GOOD academic standing:
