The staff of the Counselling Service are here
to help you - why not make the most of it?
Through our COMPASS
Programs we provide a confidential consultation and advisory
service for all staff in regard to student welfare and development,
either over the phone or in person. We run many different programs,
workshops and seminars for students and some specifically
for staff or students in a support role. We also aim to contribute
to different aspects of campus life and a sense of community on
campus through innovative programs and collaborations with other
faculties, schools and departments and with student organisations.
We have two services which Academic Advisors
may find useful:
Counselling Service team members are available
to present tailored programs in your Faculty or School. To discuss
what you need and how we can tailor a seminar for you please contact
the Counselling Service on 9385-5418 or email the director of
the service Annie Andrews.
Alternatively, have a look at the seminars
and workshops we are currently offering students and then
fill out an online
request form for staff telling us what you would like. Alternatively
you can email our Outreach Coordinator Joyce
Chong.
Examples of previous seminars presented in
Schools and Faculties include:
- Time Management
- Stress Management
- Procrastination
- Campus Care
Program - Assisting Students at Risk
- Relaxation Skills
- Secrets to Succeeding at Uni
- Hypotheticals (panel discussion for O-Week)
- and more...
The Counselling Service can tailor a program
to your needs!

Our Campus
Care Program - Assisting Students At Risk was recently held
for staff involved in the First Year Experience network. The
focus of this seminar is to equip staff to recognise factors that
place a student at risk, identify who is at risk, as well as teach
basic strategies for assessing the seriousness of a situation
and intervening in an appropriate way. A list of services/who
to contact for help is also provided and staff are given the opportunity
to consider different case scenarios and what action they might
take. If you would like to have the Campus Care Program seminar
in your department, school or faculty, please contact us below.
Don't forget that UNSW provides many other
great services for both academic and general staff including:
