If
you've just arrived, congratulations on getting into UNSW and
welcome! Make sure you check out the O-week
website for the orientation program.
If you're considering coming to UNSW or just
having a look around, welcome to you as well.
You may want to have a browse through
the rest of this site and also the main UNSW
site for lots of useful information and links, as well as human
contacts within the different departments, schools and faculties.
For instance, check out Starting
at UNSW for information on orientation which may be especially
relevant to you if you are just starting your first Session here.
The Learning
Centre has some great information on getting used to study
at university. Also, the rest of the UNSW
Life area of the UNSW website is full of great information
and guidance for the new UNSW student. To help you find your way
around here's a map
of the access routes around campus (including the location
of lifts).
For new UNSW students, you will probably also
be familiar with the new www.my.unsw.edu.au
where you can accept your offer and enroll on line, get all the
current student bulletins from Student Admin, plus find HEAPS
of other info specific to you.
What has Counselling got to do with new UNSW
students?
At
the UNSW Counselling Service we pride ourselves in having a special
role in making new students feel welcome. Our aim is to help ease
your adjustment to University life.
We know from extensive research on the first
year experience that the first few weeks at University are crucial
in deciding whether a student will flourish or flounder (or even
drop out). To support all our new students in the best way possible,
we work together with the Schools, Faculties and administrative
departments to coordinate initiatives for new students.
O-Week, Peer Mentoring
These are some of the initiatives we are involved

and a happy, healthy and satisfying experience of your first year
at UNSW.
